City of Fort Worth Pioneer Tower

LOCATION: Fort Worth, TX
OWNER: City of Fort Worth
ARCHITECT: Elements of Architecture

The 208-foot-tall Pioneer Tower, built in 1938, is on the National Register of Historic Places. The rehabilitation started with the abatement, then the removal and replacement of the existing louvers. The exterior brick and stone were cleaned, and new LED lights were installed inside the tower. Necessary structural improvements were made, such as new x-bracing and FRP wrap. The Historic Pioneer Tower now has a light show feature on the tower’s exterior, separate from the interior LED lights.
